Change
Sometimes, we don’t know what to make of it. On one hand, we know it’s necessary for growth. After all, if we aren’t willing to evolve, we risk stagnating. On the other hand, there is comfort in familiarity and consistency.
For Live It, our parishes are the lifeblood of our initiative, providing the opportunity for us to proactively spread the practice of faith. And embracing this opportunity does require some change in the way we do certain things. At some of our partnership parishes the metamorphosis to a Live It parish has meant reaching out further to welcome visitors and new members through greeters and welcoming teams. Other parishes have added to their weekly mass schedule, established weekly prayer groups, and developed a “Card Ministry” to mail greeting cards to ill or mourning parishioners.
Whatever the action, the result is a parish in which dedicated and committed parishioners give freely of their time, talent and treasure without expectation of return. By making the transformation, a Live It parish has a welcoming environment where people are warmly invited and encouraged to become involved. It is a place where increased spiritual awareness comes through opportunities for education and fellowship.
