Cardinal Stritch High School named one of the top 50 Catholic High Schools in the United States

Cardinal Stritch High School has earned the designation as one of the top 50 Catholic high schools in the United States for 2006 by the Catholic High School Honor Roll.  “I am grateful that Cardinal Stritch High School, one of our diocesan high schools, has been commended for its educational excellence and been named to the 2006 Catholic High School Honor Roll,” stated Bishop Leonard Blair.  “Being recognized nationally is a well-deserved honor and I congratulate Father David Reinhart, the school’s president, and the faculty, staff and students for their hard work.”  “Their commitment to making disciples for Christ has helped make Cardinal Stritch High School a success.”

The primary goal of the Catholic High School Honor Roll is to acknowledge those schools that maintain high academic standards, uphold their Catholic identities, and prepare their students to actively engage the world. A “constructive competition” of sorts, the Honor Roll encourages schools to improve the academic and spiritual formation of America’s youth. To see a list of the top 50 schools, along with lists of the top 25 schools in each category, please go to www.chshonor.org.

Nearly 1,300 Catholic high schools were invited to apply to the Honor Roll by completing surveys that measure academic excellence, Catholic identity, and civic education. With this high level of competition, inclusion on the Honor Roll indicates outstanding success in each of the disciplines examined.

Timothy Mahoney, Principal of Cardinal Stritch High School was first to be notified about the award.  “Our selection to the Catholic High School Honor Roll as one of the top 50 schools in the nation is a direct reflection on our staff’s dedication, our parent’s commitment and our student’s desire to learn and serve,” according to Mahoney.  “Since the award is based on academics, Catholic identity and civic education, it is not just a reflection of academic excellence, but of our drive to create true stewards who live the teachings of the Catholic church everyday, both in their parishes and the larger community.”

Cardinal Stritch High School is located at 3225 Pickle Road, Oregon, Ohio.  Stritch is Uniquely Affordable for Today and Uniquely Catholic for the Future.  It is an institution purposely sized to meet the academic needs of all students, with a present enrollment of 330 students.  For more information, please visit the school’s website at www.cardinalstritch.org
